MIT Venture Mentoring Service (VMS) provides free, confidential mentoring and related resources to members of the MIT community, including students, alumni, faculty and staff. VMS connects entrepreneurs with teams of experienced volunteer mentors to help them create and sustain ventures in the real world. Through a core offering of team mentoring, VMS also organizes one-on-one sessions, office hours, and events, plus additional program offerings that span topics such as legal, IP, accounting, immigration, HR, and user experience. Ventures can participate in team and individual mentoring, participate in Boot Camps and office-hour programs, and access a network of mentors for strategic advice, feedback, and connections. VMS mentors are drawn from MIT and industry, and the program operates with a focus on developing the founders’ skills, governance, and go-to-market thinking. VMS does not take equity in ventures and aims to be a trusted, objective resource that helps MIT entrepreneurs turn ideas into viable organizations.
