CBI is a Dutch governmental organisation that supports the transition towards inclusive and sustainable economies by strengthening the social, economic and environmental sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries. It helps SMEs export products and services to Europe and regional markets by connecting them to buyers, providing high-quality market information, and delivering coaching and capacity-building through its projects. Operating as part of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CBI pursues a systems-oriented approach (Market Systems Development and Sustainable Market Transformation) to address root causes, promote decent work and gender equality, and strengthen sector-wide capabilities. Its work spans multiple sectors and countries, focusing on improving competitiveness, enabling environments, and sustainable trade to benefit SMEs and the communities they serve.
